About Texans for Strong Public Schools

Texans for Strong Public Schools is a campaign of the Texas Association of School Boards dedicated to protecting and strengthening Texas public schools and the students, families, and communities they serve. 

Public schools are the backbone of Texas communities. They welcome every child, prepare students for college, careers, and military service, and help build the educated workforce and engaged citizenry our state depends on. Strong public schools benefit everyone — students, families, employers, taxpayers, and the communities they call home. 

Texans for Strong Public Schools works to amplify support for public education and advocate for policies that keep public dollars in public schools, ensure students have the resources they need to succeed, and hold any school receiving taxpayer funding to clear standards for transparency and public accountability. 

We believe every Texas child deserves access to a strong, well-funded public school close to home. We also believe taxpayers deserve to know that public education dollars are being used responsibly, openly, and in ways that serve the public good.

• Strong public schools give every student the opportunity to succeed. Texas students need schools with the teachers, programs, services, and support to help them learn and thrive. 
• Public dollars should support public schools. Taxpayer funding should strengthen the schools that serve all children and remain accountable to the communities that support them. 
• Accountability should follow public funding. Any school that receives taxpayer dollars should meet clear expectations for transparency, student access, financial stewardship, and academic performance. 

About the Texas Association of School Boards 

TASB has supported Texas public schools since 1949, when school trustees came together to create a nonprofit association focused on helping local school board members understand their roles, stay informed on education issues, and speak in support of public education. 

Today, TASB serves nearly all Texas school boards, providing trusted training, advocacy, information, and services that help local trustees and districts operate with efficiency and excellence on behalf of the students, families, and communities they serve. 

Through Texans for Strong Public Schools, TASB helps Texans speak up for the public schools that serve every child and strengthen the future of our state.
